Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 10, 2026  ·  Tru-Resolve LLC

The short version: TruBrief collects only what it needs to work. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.

1. Who We Are

TruBrief is a news aggregator application developed and operated by Tru-Resolve LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). Our registered address is in the United States. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@tru-resolve.com.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information required to provide the TruBrief service:

  • Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. You may also sign in via Google or Apple, in which case we receive your email address and display name from that provider.
  • Location (optional): If you use the Local Brief or weather features, we collect your ZIP code or city. We do not collect GPS coordinates. You can remove this at any time in Settings.
  • Preferences: Your selected news categories, subscribed sources, saved articles, language preference, and notification settings are stored on our servers so your experience syncs across devices.
  • Usage data: We collect basic, anonymized app usage signals (e.g., which features are used) to improve the service. This data is not linked to your identity.
  • Device info: App version number and operating system version, used for compatibility and crash reporting only.

We do not collect: precise GPS location, contacts, camera, microphone, payment card details (payments are handled by our payment processor), or any data from third-party apps on your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and personalize the TruBrief service (feeds, digests, weather, markets)
  • To sync your preferences and saved articles across your devices
  • To send your Daily Brief notification at the time you configure
  • To respond to support requests you send us
  • To improve app performance and fix bugs (using anonymized usage data)
  • To send occasional product update emails (you can unsubscribe at any time)

We do not use your data to serve you targeted advertisements. TruBrief does not have an ad network and does not share data with ad platforms.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Supabase — our database and authentication provider, hosted in the United States. Your account data and preferences are stored here under strict access controls.
  • AI providers (Groq, Google Gemini) — article text is sent to AI APIs to generate summaries. This text is from public news sources, not your personal data. Both providers are bound by their own data processing agreements.
  • Weather data provider — your ZIP code or city name is sent to retrieve your local forecast. No account information is shared.
  • Payment processor (Stripe) — if you subscribe to TruBrief Pro, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
  • Law enforcement — only if required by a valid legal process (subpoena, court order). We will notify you to the extent permitted by law.

5. Cookies and Tracking

The TruBrief mobile app does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking SDKs. The TruBrief website (this page) uses only essential first-party cookies for navigation. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any behavioral advertising tools on this website.

6. Content Blocker

TruBrief's in-app browser includes a content blocker that prevents 37+ known ad networks, tracking scripts, and autoplay media from loading when you open full articles. This blocking happens entirely on your device — no data about blocked requests is sent to our servers.

7. Children's Privacy

TruBrief is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@tru-resolve.com and we will delete it promptly.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. News articles are automatically deleted after 7 days unless you have saved them. If you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@tru-resolve.com. We will respond within 30 days.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To submit a CCPA request, email privacy@tru-resolve.com with the subject line "CCPA Request."

11. International Users

TruBrief is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the US (including the European Economic Area), your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using TruBrief, you consent to this transfer. We take appropriate measures to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this policy.

12. Security

We use industry-standard security practices: data is encrypted in transit (TLS), passwords are hashed and salted, and our database enforces row-level security so users can only access their own data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The "Effective date" at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
